In today’s multicultural and multilingual world, with its constant and rapid changes in social, technological and knowledge spheres, society looks increasingly to education to play a more relevant role in the training of professionals who can deal with these new problems and handle their complex development.
In order to meet these social requirements, the School of Education and Health has designed the Expert Course in International Education tied to the IB® Certificate in Teaching and Learning from the International Baccalaureate Organisation.
This course aims to meet the basic need of schools for professionals with knowledge of the demands of an international curriculum, capable of catering to the needs of inquiring, risk-taker and well-informed students. These are schools, furthermore, with rigorous quality standards and, in many cases, find themselves at the top of the various international rankings devised by the corresponding quality agencies (the PISA report, TIMMS, regional agencies, etc.).
Our Expert Course in International Education provides academic training that affords students deeper knowledge of fields such as international education, the IB curriculum, new technologies applied to the teaching of foreign languages and active methodologies and integrated learning. Taken as a whole, it is a first-class training for the future professional wanting to teach in a foreign language at pre-school, primary or secondary levels.
It also prepares students for professional life, since it improves the skills new teachers need for professional accreditation processes, to be part of the teaching teams and bilingual and international schools.
The principles promoted by the IB are:
- Effective support to teaching and learning
- To foster collaboration and teamwork
- To encourage innovation and risk-taking
- To promote international-mindedness and intercultural understanding
- To facilitate learning and stimulate thinking about the profession
- To develop leadership qualities
