University Camilo José Cela, committed to sustainability and energy efficiency

In its commitment to sustainability, and coinciding with International Energy Saving Day, University Camilo José Cela wishes to join this awareness raising initiative and encourages its educational community to participate in environmental education initiatives.

UCJC was a pioneer in Spain in the installation of a biomass centre that distributes energy to the entire Campus in an efficient and clean way.

These improvements lead to savings of 25% of the Campus energy consumption and a 65% reduction in CO2 emissions.

In accordance with objective number 13 of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, urgent measures are needed to combat climate change and its effects, already present in all countries on all continents. If we do not act, the average global temperature could rise by around 3 degrees Celsius this century, producing a negative impact on the economy, on the lives of people and communities.
