UCJC celebrates the awarding of fifty new Doctorates

The Camilo José Cela University Almagro Campus hosted the Investiture Ceremony for New Doctors for the 2016-17 academic year. The event featured Juan Antonio Zufiria, General Manager at IBM Europe, who sponsored this year’s doctors and gave the address leading up to the investiture.

Samuel Martín-Barbero, Rector of Camilo José Cela University, invested the fifty new doctors having gained their doctorate in the last academic year, who subsequently made the solemn pledge. Juan Padilla, General Secretary of the University, then read the Act of Extraordinary Doctorates. These awards were then presented by the Deans of the UCJC Schools and the Director of the Doctorate School, Francisco López. Samuel Martín-Barbero closed the event, which concluded with the traditional Gaudeamus Igitur hymn.

The title of Doctor is the highest academic distinction in Spain. It is attained by taking the corresponding post-graduate classes, with the aim of attaining skills and abilities related to scientific research and reading a doctoral thesis based on original research.
