Ernesto Samper, former President of Colombia and Secretary General of the international body UNASUR up to less than a week ago, offered University Camilo José Cela students a conference on the current situation of Latin America, as part of the activities organised by the Centre for Governance and Political Marketing (CIGMAP).
Samper spoke on the role played by some Latin American countries in the international context. Among the short-term negative impact, he highlighted the situation of Venezuela and the rise to power of Donald Trump. Among the positive impacts, he highlighted the rapprochement of Cuba and the United States and the peace agreement in Colombia.
Ernesto Samper signed the Book of Honour at UCJC as part of his visit.
